"Dry Tree Syndrome"
For if they do these things in a green tree, what shall be done in the dry?
When the tree turns dry,
to the mountains they will cry,
please God let us die!
And there followed him a great company of people, and of women, which also bewailed and lamented him. But Jesus turning unto them said, Daughters of Jerusalem, weep not for me, but weep for yourselves, and for your children. For, behold, the days are coming, in the which they shall say, Blessed are the barren, and the wombs that never bare, and the paps which never gave suck. Then shall they begin to say to the mountains, Fall on us; and to the hills, Cover us. For if they do these things in a green tree, what shall be done in the dry?
Luke 23:27-31
Even as the Lord Jesus Christ, was on His way to pay the ultimate price, as the Lamb of God to take away the sins of the world, He continued to prophesy.
This prophecy reminds us that at this time, when the greatest atrocity ever committed occurred, there was NO famine.
"For if they do these things in a green tree..." i.e trees providing a harvest & food.
Jesus went on to ask the question... "...what shall be done in the dry?"
...in other words how will mankind behave when there is a famine!
Considering the arrogance & selfishness of today's generation they will not behave rationally & in a civilised manner when faced with worldwide famine.
Jesus even went on to describe the time when... they begin to say to the mountains, Fall on us; and to the hills, Cover us.
This relates directly with the words of John's Revelation or Apocalypse
Continuing to consider the various aspects of the demise of civilisation leading to the Great Tribulation. Even as the sceptics would argue that mankind is presently at the zenith of it's chequered history, supported perhaps by the many achievements in technology & science etc. The new-agers would argue similarly that the those who embrace their new-age doctrine are automatically superior & advanced souls, whereas those who fail to entertain these doctrines of devils, i.e. God-fearing people are therefore categorised as degenerates. Putting aside such comments and attitudes which clearly are made by those without a God-fearing cell in their bodies, (not fearing God, therefore NO wisdom!), the outstanding prophecies will still obviously be fulfilled and the Tribulation Factor in itself carries sufficient weight to support this.
And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains; And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb: For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?
Revelation 6:15-17
